Our Climate Action Has Only Just Begun! Learn How aciae Set to Achieve Zero Emissions Target | Creative Sustainable Footwear

Since our inception, aciae has been committed to developing and maintaining sustainable business practices. We are proud to announce our recent achievement of carbon neutrality, through a measured approach in line with our 'Circle to Zero' principle. This principle recognises the need for zero emissions from the start, fostering the way towards a sustainable future, even as we scale up.

Our carbon footprint measurement indicates zero Scope 1&2 emissions as our operation site is fully powered by renewable energy, with an inventory of 6.9 t CO2 in Scope 3 Category 1 from our launch, according to the GHG Protocol. As part of our mission to mitigate climate change, we've partnered with Tasman Environmental Markets to offset 20 t CO2 by investing in certified carbon credit projects. We recognise the production and transportation of our products inevitably will build up emissions, therefore committed to continue our carbon offset program as part of our climate action.

Innovation sits at the heart of our approach. Our focus on re-use, recycling, and repurposing practices, coupled with the introduction of technology into design processes, aims to enhance product cycles, while reducing the negative impact of waste or harmful materials. It’s through these initiatives we believe that our goal of Carbon Neutrality will be achieved.

Among the notable projects we are invested in, is the Katingan Peatland Conservation. This initiative, located in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, stands as the largest program of its kind and protects more than 149,000 hectares of vital peatland. Once destined to be cleared for an industrial acacia plantation, this area is now a beacon of hope for carbon offsetting, and one of the largest remaining areas of intact peat swamp forest in South-East Asia.

The project operates under the principles of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+), adhering to the VERRA Voluntary Carbon Standard and Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standard. With this in mind, it's designed not just to offset carbon, but to create a sustainable impact for local communities.

In partnership with 34 local villages, the project aligns with sustainable development initiatives, building community capacity, increasing employment and education. The initiative demonstrates the potential of carbon finance in the fight against climate change, generating an average 7.5 million triple gold certified carbon credits annually. This is equivalent to taking 2 million cars off the road each year. The project utilises these carbon revenues to ensure natural forest restoration and protection, aligning environmental preservation with local economic prosperity.

Moreover, the Katingan Mentaya Project delivers essential biodiversity conservation outcomes. By protecting the habitat, it ensures the survival of five Critically Endangered, eight Endangered and 31 Vulnerable species, including 5 to 10% of the global populations of the Bornean Orangutan, Proboscis Monkey and Southern Bornean Gibbon.

We at aciae are proud to play a role in the success of the Katingan Mentaya Project, but our work doesn't stop here. As we continue to align our business practices with the health of our planet, we will remain focused on our journey to Net Zero emissions, driven by our commitment to sustainability.
